Graham Landscape Architecture was founded in Annapolis to enjoy the influences of a distinctive history and geography. The designer’s response to time and place are a hallmark of our studio.
Jay Graham founded Graham Landscape Architecture in 1984 to provide specialized design services to property owners, architects, planners, and developers.
The firm's expertise includes historic properties; urban, country and waterfront estates; college campuses; inns and resorts; office and retail complexes; and recreational areas. GLA collaborates with owners and architects to create landscapes that tell unique stories and respect the surrounding landscape.
Timeless designs, regional ecosystems, horticulture & native plants, historic context, well-crafted hardscapes, and seamless integration between indoor & outdoor spaces are hallmarks of GLA’s work.
Throughout the years, Graham Landscape Architecture has garnered many significant awards and earned a reputation for delivering thoughtful, well-detailed designs.
First trained as an architect at the University of Virginia, Jay Graham stayed on to pursue a Master of Landscape Architecture because of an interest in the impact of the spaces between buildings. With that comprehensive background, a key feature of his design work is the union of built and natural elements in the landscape.
Jay enjoys collaborating with clients and their architects to blend clients’ goals with their property.
A Maryland native, influenced by his travels in this country and abroad, Jay seeks to have each design tell the story of the land, the times, and the people. Jay welcomes the renewed interest in native plants since he sees them as important markers of place.
